About The Position

The Coordinator, Development Communications, will support the USA Swimming Foundation (the “Foundation”) by leading its storytelling, brand voice, and creation of high-quality written and creative materials to support fundraising. The Coordinator, Development Communications, will report to the Senior Director, Communications, and assist the Communications team in additional needs. This role will primarily support donor-facing and alumni-facing digital communications, including social media execution for the Foundation, and provide overflow communications support during peak fundraising and organizational moments.

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, website publishing, social media execution, and data analysis and project management platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications, content development, or digital media, preferably within a nonprofit, sports, or mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated experience developing written and digital content for external audiences, including social media and campaign-based communications.
  • Must be able to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 10% of the year.
  • Must be able to lift up to ten pounds.
  • This position works in an office setting in the USA Swimming headquarters office in Colorado Springs, CO; must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO, or the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Support the articulation of the Foundation’s core story to clearly communicate value, impact, and donor relevance.
  • Support donor-focused and alumni-focused storytelling across digital, social, and fundraising platforms.
  • Manage and execute Foundation social media content in alignment with USA Swimming brand voice.
  • Draft and refine written fundraising and stewardship content in coordination with the Senior Director, Communications and Senior Manager, Development.
  • Assist in the creative direction for print, digital, and video collateral supporting fundraising priorities.
  • Ensure consistent voice, tone, and messaging across all donor-facing platforms and campaigns.
  • Translate programs, outcomes, and competitive moments into compelling donor-centered narratives.
  • Partner closely with the Foundation staff to align messaging with annual, leadership, major gift, and campaign strategies.
  • Partner with Senior Manager, Development to develop and establish a cadence of annual campaign communications.
  • Serve as rapid response writing and creative support.
  • Provide overflow communications support to the broader Communications team as needed.
  • Support additional communications and content initiatives as assigned, including overflow coverage during major campaigns, events, or organizational priorities.
  • Adapt responsibilities as needed to support evolving Foundation and Communications team objectives.
  • Assist Senior Director, Communications with securing and scheduling media opportunities to promote the mission of the Foundation.
