About The Position

We're seeking someone who is excited to tell the world about Agate and its program participants. This person must approach storytelling with sensitivity for the experience of our clients, most of whom have experienced homelessness. The coordinator will lead Agate's work in ethical storytelling and representation. In addition, we are also looking for someone who is genuinely excited to own and grow our social media presence. Someone who is eager to think strategically about how to tell our stories, engage our community, and elevate our mission online. This person will be part of the fundraising operations of our organization, so they will also have to learn the lens of communicating through a fundraising context for some of their work. Reporting to the Vice President of External Relations, the Communications Coordinator executes internal and external communications for Agate. Role responsibilities include execution of digital communications, print newsletters, fundraising appeals, social media, graphic design, and support on events.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Capabilities in Graphic design
  • Operates well in team environment
  • Teamwork is conducted in English. Additional languages spoken by our clients (Spanish, Amharic, Oromo, Somali, ASL) is highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Internal and External Digital Communications Create and send all digital communications including e-stories, e-newsletters, event invitations, and special announcements.
  • Operate within organization systems for mass emailing, currently the Raiser's Edge database.
  • Be the strategic leader and own execution on social media.
  • Work with VP of External Relations to manage contractors assisting with digital communications.
  • Execute all graphic design for these communications.
  • Internal and External Print Communications Create and send print and communications, including fundraising appeals, newsletters, and event invitations.
  • Manage relationships with print contractors.
  • Execute graphic design for these communications.
  • Story Collection & Telling Engage with cross-functional teams to understand Agate's work and gather stories for storytelling purposes.
  • Attend cross-functional team meetings, take photos and videos as part of the storytelling process.
  • External Relations Team Participation Attend team meetings and support on all-team projects and activities.
  • Support on execution and at times, project leadership of External Relations events.
