About The Position

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank offers a diverse workplace with professionals that work together to fulfill our mission in the fight to end hunger. Salary range $44k-$46k based on experience. The Coordinator, Community Engagement will work under the direction of the Manager, Campaigns & Events to support, coordinate and implement fundraising and marketing initiatives for current and prospective donors and engagement activities for the Foodbank. This position will cultivate and deepen relationships with prospective and existing donors who participate in food and funds drives, third party events, cause marketing and volunteer initiatives. They serve as the main contact for groups wishing to further engage with the Foodbank and steward relationships to a point of meaningful engagement, collaborating internally to ensure engaged groups or individuals are connected to the proper contact. They establish and build relationships through phone calls, emails, presentations, event attendance, face-to-face visits and other communications to increase community engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business management, communications, marketing or non-profit management.
  • 2-5+ years of fundraising, sales or administrative support experience in mid-to-large non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to deliver compelling, coherent messages in one-to-one, small group and large group settings.
  • A communication style that is open, cordial, empathetic, warm and persuasive.
  • Good listener and consensus-builder.
  • Ability to network effectively with individuals and businesses at all levels.
  • Natural collaborator with the ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds on projects to gather information relevant to the work.
  • Critical problem solver with the ability to concisely convey perspectives.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and to manage multiple priorities and balance competing priorities.
  • Possess confidence in using and learning various forms of technology and digital platforms.
  • Ability and willingness to travel primarily within the 8-county service region but also including occasional out-of-state conferences, seminars or workshops.
  • Ability to follow All American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for individuals, organizations and businesses interested in furthering engagement with the Foodbank through hosting food and funds drives, volunteering or executing community engagement events designed to raise awareness, food and financial donations.
  • Coordinate logistics and provide support to organizations and groups hosting food and funds drives, ensuring they have materials, guidance and resources for successful participation.
  • Support donor services in implementing virtual fundraising platforms.
  • Implement the community engagement strategy including staff engagement for the Foodbank’s major campaigns including Harvest for Hunger and the Holiday Campaign.
  • Attend external events as a representative of the organization to build visibility, expand the network of engaged prospects and strengthen relationships in the community.
  • Deliver presentations to community groups, schools and businesses to educate them on hunger issues and encourage involvement.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for speaker’s bureau and tabling requests. Coordinate with prospects to fulfill requests themselves or recruit an appropriate staff member or volunteer.
  • Work collaboratively with fundraising, marketing, volunteer and programs teams to align community engagement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with corporate major gift officers to ensure corporate donors and their executives are being cultivated, solicited and stewarded to sustain year over year growth. Meet regularly to discuss moves management.
  • Provide excellent stewardship to campaign and event participants by sharing stories of impact and providing campaign updates and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Donor Services Team to ensure that all donations are documented and acknowledged appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Support Foodbank fundraising events by seeking sponsorships, securing auction item and in-kind donations, coordinating event participation and assisting with event logistics.
  • Support and implement activities for cause marketing and point of purchase campaigns including, but not limited to, Check Out Hunger.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, food drive data and event participation in Raiser’s Edge. Prepare reports summarizing engagement metrics, trends and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support volunteer and guest engagement activities including support of front desk coverage and occasional evening and Saturday volunteer activities.
  • Independently manage special projects as assigned and perform other duties as required.
