About The Position

If you enjoy trying out new recipes and spending time in the kitchen, Kids Cooking Camp is the place for you! The Skokie Park District is seeking hardworking and outgoing Program Leaders (counselors) for summer 2026. Description: Be reliable and be a leader. Bring a positive attitude and a willingness to communicate with parents, campers, and staff with professionalism. Own the ability to read through recipes, double or reduce fraction measurements, organize tools and ingredients, help campers measure, mix, chop, and provide hands-on guidance—encouraging fine motor development and life skills. Collaborate with fellow Program Leaders to ensure the safety and success of campers. Plan and lead camp games and activities. Supervise pool time, both in the water and on deck, to promote safety. Foster kindness and respect among campers, implementing age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Program Leaders are responsible for leaving the camp site neat and orderly at the end of the camp day. Duties include maintaining accurate records and reports. Program Leaders attend meetings and training as requested, and perform other duties as assigned. Hours: Camp begins Monday, June 8, 2026, and runs through Friday, July 31, 2026. Hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, but they may vary depending on camp needs. Must be available to attend camp training the week of May 30, 2026, exact dates and times to be determined. Requirements

Must be an enthusiastic adult, at least 16 years of age, who enjoys working with children ages 6-13 years old
Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

Experience leading groups of children in camp and/or culinary experiences preferred
Priority will be given to applicants with teaching certifications and experience in culinary fields
