Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of employment history.
  • Successful completion of ServSafe course.
  • Must provide evidence of being free of infectious/contagious disease (e.g., TB) prior to hire and annually as required.
  • Successful completion of background checks (criminal, driving record, abuse/neglect) and fingerprinting as required.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation and training (including Relias) at hire and annually.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Successful completion of First Aid training.
  • Hepatitis A vaccination for St. Louis area staff (not applicable unless specified otherwise).
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic math, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
  • Reliable, adaptable, motivated, cooperative, and able to follow supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of nutrition is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and USDA/nutritional guidelines, including preparing alternative meals to meet dietary restrictions.
  • Thaw, prep, cook, and portion large-quantity food items (including frozen meats) and assist with prep for the next day or special events as supplies allow.
  • Maintain daily logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher usage; document food temperatures, meal records, and any menu substitutions.
  • Minimize food waste by using leftovers within mandated timeframes and maintaining accurate records of substitutions.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, dishes, work areas, and cafeteria spaces; restock supplies and report equipment issues to the Food Service Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs, communicate supply needs to the manager, and provide input on menu planning and resident observations.
  • Assist with meal-time clean-up and proper storage of leftovers; provide at least 4 hours’ notice if unable to attend a scheduled shift.
