About The Position

Position Summary: Staff participates in provision of quality of prepared food including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the facility menu.  Assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation and cleaning procedures are followed.  Staff cleans work area, serving area, and dining area. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service, hospital experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
  • May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
  • Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred.
  • Understands and adheres to hospital compliance plan and code of conduct.
  • Respects confidentiality at all times; follows HIPAA guidelines for disclosing information.
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
  • Treats all patients, visitors, and co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Always appears professional. Wears name badge at all times. Adheres to uniform standards if applicable.
  • Takes initiative to helps the team, is flexible when asked to assist in other areas.
  • Consistently demonstrates positive and affirming behaviors even when addressing conflict or stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietician for menus and patient specific needs.
  • Keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines.
  • Keeps rotation (FIFO) standards, no expired food products on premise.  Properly dates and labels all food.
  • Maintains accurate HACCP programs, checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption.
  • Practices sanitation and food safety guidelines for appropriate food handling procedures, including use of service utensils and gloves.  Ensures all dishes and food preparation utensils are cleaned in accordance to safety and sanitation guidelines.
