York General’s Children’s Academy is seeking a PRN Cook to join our team! This role is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals for children in alignment with state and federal regulations. The Cook plays a vital role in ensuring safe, sanitary, and high‑quality food service and supports daily kitchen operations including cleaning, dishwashing, record‑keeping, and assisting the Lead Cook with inventory needs. Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word, Excel, internet navigation).
  • Sound judgment and ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of food program requirements preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily menus that meet food program guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve meals at proper temperatures while following menus, production guides, and regulations.
  • Complete required daily logs including receiving logs, food temperatures, refrigeration/freezer temps, dish machine temperatures, cooling logs, and sanitizer logs; adhere to HACCP procedures.
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment; maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment following regulatory standards.
  • Receive and store food and supplies while verifying invoice accuracy and ensuring proper labeling, dating, and rotation.
  • Assist the Lead Cook with ordering and purchasing food items to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Complete all assigned cleaning tasks and follow established cleaning schedules.
  • Communicate promptly with the Lead Cook or Director regarding kitchen-related needs or issues.
  • Attend required training and continuing education.
