About The Position

Under minimal supervision, level two conventional machinists set up and machine complex production part features, demonstrating skills in intermediate machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools. Level two conventional machine competencies include the ability to use quality inspection tools and techniques such as part layout and bench inspection processes, as well as operating conventional mills and lathes. The level two conventional machinist will have intermediate competencies in print reading and common tool geometry identification and application. 3-6 YOE. Conventional machinist competencies include the ability to perform complex part layout to print, as well as expert mechanical inspection. The conventional machinists will provide leadership and mentoring to lower-level manual machinists, as well as demonstrate advanced trouble shooting and critical rework abilities. Conventional machinists will also produce complex tooling from scratch or to print as necessary, as well as assist in developing conventional machining processes for new product. 3-6 YOE. Must be able to provide proof of US person status to be in position.

Requirements

  • Advanced ability to read prints and perform mechanical inspections
  • Leadership and mentoring abilities and willing to train other employees as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience in advanced detailed machining
  • This position typically requires evidence of at least three years of experience machining in the aerospace industry in addition to the other machining competencies described above.
  • 3-6 years of experience
  • Must be able to provide proof of US person status to be in position.

Nice To Haves

  • NIMS Certification desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Machine complex production part features with very small margin for error.
  • Create simple and complex tooling as necessary.
  • Fully perform advanced setups on mills and or lathes.
  • Machine all types of common aerospace materials without assistance.
  • Provide training and assistance to lower level conventional machinists as necessary.
  • Support the site with the highest risk one off rework operations when necessary.
  • Assist in developing new conventional machining processes for new product.
  • Other duties as assigned
