About The Position

Enterprise Services Customs Operations (ESCO) is looking for a professional with experience executing Customs compliance and operations work in an exporter/importer environment (preferred) or experience with Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, Department of State & Commerce Licensing, policy, or government relations field in Customs Brokerage to fill the role of Controls Advisor. This position will review and audit import transactions to achieve targeted results in a fast paced and challenging environment. This person must be a team player who is willing to learn and adapt to the company’s business needs. This role serves as a controls program primary point of contact for one or more businesses. The Controls Advisor reports to the Controls Manager.

Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • 3+ years of experience in CFR19 U.S. Customs regulations with experience in any of these areas; HS Classification, Free Trade Agreement qualification, Customs Valuations, Country of Origin determination.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to respond efficiently and effectively to time-critical issues with competing / conflicting priorities
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Customs Broker / Certified Customs Specialist / or demonstrated experience
  • Project management experience
  • Microsoft Office applications, SAP GTS, ITCS , RGEMS, other Trade Tools
  • Time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize among demanding and sometimes conflicting requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience executing Customs Compliance and Operations work in an exporter/importer environment or Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, Department of State & Commerce Licensing, policy, or government relations field.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliant and timely submission of reconciliation filings
  • Translates regulatory declaration requirements into comprehensive easy-to-understand consultative guidance to ensure compliance of reconciliation filings
  • Works with internal programs and functions such as Global Trade, Procurement, Receiving, Finance, International Logistics, and Customs Brokers
  • Reviews valuation and assist requirements for accuracy
  • Generates the required documentation necessary to support analysis of reconciliation filings
  • Manages customer expectations through collaboration and complete record keeping packages
  • Monitors, escalates, and resolves valuation questions
  • Operates in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Recommends updates to processes and tools to accommodate compliant reporting to CBP
  • Represents the organization as primary contact for reconciliation filings with internal customers and third-party service providers
