About The Position

Lehigh Valley Public Media (LVPM) is home to PBS39, WLVR and Lehighvalleynews.com. Our mission is to engage everyone in our community through our public media resources to make the Lehigh Valley better tomorrow than it is today. We are transforming into a trusted community hub that integrates local, original, and community-generated content across TV, digital, and live events. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to be our Controller. This position will lead the organization’s financial accounting, financial reporting, and payroll functions. The successful candidate will prepare monthly reports, manage project-level budgets, conduct account analysis, and assist with annual and long-term financial budgeting and planning. In addition the position is responsible for cash flow projections and cash management. Maintaining financial integrity, compliance, and operational stewardship of the organization are paramount.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail is imperative to the success of this role.
  • Prioritization and time management skills are essential.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, as well as best financial practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial accounting principles, laws, and regulations needed for compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least five (5) years of prior senior level accounting experience.
  • Natural leader with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Analytical mindset which can effectively solve complex problems.
  • May be asked to work longer hours and occasional weekends with short notice.
  • As you will/may be driving a company vehicle or your own vehicle on a regular basis, a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record as determined by a driver’s license background check are required for this position.
  • All team members must successfully pass a background check (7 years), FBI fingerprint clearance and PA child clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulatory compliance.
  • Support grant reporting and restricted fund compliance as needed.
  • Completes monthly financial package reporting.
  • Handles project level budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Leads the annual budget and long-term financial planning process.
  • Ensures yearly financial audit process with third party accounting firms completed.
  • Completes general accounting duties.
  • Responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the company's credit card and expense report process.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial presentations for the Board of Directors.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Completes monthly budget forecasts and cash flow requirements to manage cash withdrawals.
  • All other duties as assigned.
