About The Position

The Controller I is an Accounting Manager responsible for managing multiple accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting. This role ensures compliance with governmental financial and tax regulations, as well as GAAP and IFRS standards. The Controller I oversees the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting, evaluates accounting processes, and implements optimizations. This position develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff to achieve departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1 year in a managerial role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting functions and department processes.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and GAAP standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials.
  • Experience in staffing, pay decisions, training, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting.
  • Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with governmental regulations, GAAP, and IFRS standards.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and prepare financial reports.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and systems, implementing optimizations for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and direct accounting professionals and support staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Ensure project and department milestones and goals are met, adhering to approved budgets.
  • Manage personnel actions, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and bank reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with revenue recognition and financial reporting standards.
  • Serve as the Accounting and Finance representative for BUL, owning the entire Balance Sheet and Income Statement for BUL.
  • Lead BS account reconciliations and be the Accounting Process Leader, following standards and proposing improvements where needed.
  • Lead month-end close for BUL and prepare detailed financial statement analysis.
  • Conduct detailed financial reviews with BULs prior to executive review.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and CapEx reporting needs.
  • Identify and manage risks in the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.
