Overview We are seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee and manage the full financial operations of a growing, multi-entity organization. This role will serve as both a strategic partner to leadership and a day-to-day operator across accounting, reporting, cash flow, and compliance. This is a highly visible position requiring someone who can operate both strategically and tactically , with a strong attention to detail and ownership over the company’s financial health.

Requirements

  • 7–15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required) and accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on, fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AIA billing / construction accounting highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) , including collections and cash flow management
  • Manage or oversee payroll processing , ensuring accuracy in taxes, deductions, and benefits
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records
  • Lead month-end close and produce financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Conduct variance analysis against budget and provide actionable insights
  • Develop and manage cash flow forecasts (weekly/monthly)
  • Track key financial and operational KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with tax filings (sales tax, 1099s) and coordinate with external CPA
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and financial policies
  • Manage insurance renewals and corporate compliance requirements
  • Serve as point of contact for audits and financial reviews
  • Lead annual budgeting process in partnership with leadership
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency
  • Support financial modeling and scenario planning
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
  • Oversee and mentor accounting staff (if applicable)
  • Develop and maintain internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage AIA billing and requisition processes
  • Support project/job profitability reporting
  • Oversee loan tracking, banking relationships, and financial documentation
