Key Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cash management. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for nonprofit organizations. Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain and monitor fund accounting and donor-restricted funds. Develop and maintain compliance with internal financial controls and company policies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS nonprofit requirements. Oversee accounting systems and chart of accounts. Ensure proper documentation and record retention. Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing budget monitoring. Manage, mentor, and develop the staff on your team (4 staff members). Foster a culture of accountability, service, and collaboration within the finance team and organization. Communicate and analyze variances and trends. Lead annual audit and year end process. Oversee 1099 and contribution statement distribution. CPA preferred (or strong progress toward certification) Minimum 3-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience Experience with nonprofit or church accounting strongly preferred Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and fund accounting Experience leading audits and working with external auditors Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems
