About The Position

Martenson, Hasbrouck & Simon LLP (“MHS”) is a national law firm focusing on labor and employment defense and business litigation. Based in Atlanta, with additional offices in Carlsbad, Costa Mesa, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Sacramento, MHS litigates labor and employment matters on behalf of all of its clients, including several national employers. All bookkeeping is centralized and managed by the Atlanta office. MHS is seeking an experienced Controller to work in our Atlanta office. This position will be responsible for managing daily financial transactions for MHS using QuickBooks Online. The duties include managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, preparing financial reports, working with outside accounting firm on various accounting tasks, and performing other regular bookkeeping activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent Business discipline preferred
4+ years of experience in a controller related role
QuickBooks Online experience
Tabs3 Billing experience
Strong Excel skills
Attention to detail
Understanding of local, state, and national financial regulations
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
Must be self-motivated and proactive

Responsibilities

Process payments through QuickBooks Online and maintain accurate payment records and cash logs, while reconciling accounts.
Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, W-9s, and vendor profiles for audits and year-end reporting.
Ensure compliance with firm policies when posting and paying client-related expenses.
Coordinate federal and state reporting with outside CPA Firm.
Assist with annual review of business insurance policies including Workers. Compensation and Business Owners.
Maintaining all office locations’ business licenses and registration documentation with the State, City, and/or county.
