We have everything you need for a dynamic career! Our client, Zack Painting Company, is a family-owned business that is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all financial operations. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Fords, NJ, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position Summary This role is responsible for managing accounting processes, financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and internal controls while supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience and a hands-on approach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking industry or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in construction industry
  • Construction industry is a Must
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Foundation or Sage accounting software is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Analyze financial results and provide insights to ownership and leadership
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Monitor job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and project profitability
  • Ensure accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
  • Work closely with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and variances
  • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Track performance against budget and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist ownership with long-term financial planning and cash flow forecasting
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities
  • Oversee billing, collections, and lien waivers as applicable
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Oversee workers’ compensation audits and insurance reporting
