About The Position

The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The role ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience including 5 years in a managerial role.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). CPA, CMA, CIA certifications considered a plus.
• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience and knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics a plus
• Prior experience in the implementation of a new accounting software required
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Responsible for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
• Accounting Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Responsible for timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts. Oversee financial systems, such as Dynamics, Ex-Flow, etc.
• Treasury Management: Work with banks and financial institutions on lines of credit, debt financing, and banking relationships. Ensure that all bank accounts are monitored and reconciled on a daily basis.
• Internal Controls and Compliance: Develop and enforce strong internal control policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and payroll taxes. Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Direct the team in internal and external audits, ensuring that necessary documentation and responses are handled timely.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices. Lead the implementation and maintenance of accounting software systems. Streamline accounting operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and development. Conduct performance evaluations and support career growth within the team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Technical Accounting: Handle complex accounting issues and provide technical guidance. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and practices. Preparation of technical accounting memos and documentation.
• Strategic Support: Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives. Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management. Lead or participate in strategic projects and initiatives as needed.
