Job Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations and ensuring the timely, accurate preparation of financial information in accordance with GAAP. The Controller reports to the Director of Finance & Accounting, this role will manage the monthly close process, supervise the Accounting Team, strengthen internal controls, and support leadership with financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting. The Controller will play a key role in process improvement, system optimization within Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, and audit coordination. This is a hybrid position requiring one day per week in the Perrysburg, Ohio office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and support a hybrid/remote work environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or Masters in Accounting is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
  • Oversee the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; review work for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate with external tax providers on income, personal property, and sales tax
  • Oversee fixed assets, including capitalizations, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliations
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance analysis
  • Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Support and lead the coordination of the annual audit
  • Partner with the Director of Finance & Accounting on financial analysis, special projects, and process improvements
  • Assist with cash forecasting and oversight of AP, AR, and credit card reconciliation processes
  • Support ERP functionality and continuous improvement efforts within Microsoft Business Central
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Other duties as assigned
