About The Position

The Controller will serve as both a hands-on leader and strategic architect of VP Supply’s accounting function—owning the integrity of the general ledger, strengthening controls, and driving the continued evolution of systems and processes to support a growing, multi-entity distribution business. This role is ideal for a technically strong, process-minded accounting professional who is ready to build structure, elevate team performance, and improve the consistency and scalability of financial reporting. The Controller will manage and develop the accounting team while remaining actively engaged in key accounting activities as systems and capabilities continue to mature—striking the right balance between hands-on execution and team leadership.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience with full ownership of the general ledger and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
Experience managing accounting operations in an audited and/or lender-backed organization.
Strong understanding of inventory, cost accounting, and rebate recognition principles within an inventory-based or distribution environment.
Proven success leading process improvement, automation, or system modernization initiatives
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, develop people, and drive accountability.

Responsibilities

Lead Core Accounting Operations: Oversee general ledger, inventory, and cost accounting activities—including receivables, payables, accruals, inventory valuation, vendor rebates, and margin reporting—to ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial results.
Champion Audit & Lender Readiness: Lead the annual audit and maintain strong relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and lenders. Ensure compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements through disciplined controls and thorough documentation.
Develop and Maintain Dynamic Cash Flow Projections: Oversee cash flow planning and forecasting that reflect working capital dynamics and lender reporting needs. Partner with the CFO to optimize liquidity and ensure dependable projections that support daily operations and long-term objectives.
Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with operations, purchasing, sales, and senior leadership to align accounting processes with business needs. Serve as a trusted partner and internal resource, providing timely and accurate financial information that supports operational decision-making and business success.
Drive Continuous Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes, systems, and reporting workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Use technology and automation to streamline recurring tasks and increase visibility across departments.
Lead Post-Acquisition Integration: Serve as the accounting lead for newly acquired businesses—aligning financial policies, systems, and reporting while ensuring smooth transitions and promoting a unified culture across entities.
Develop & Elevate the Accounting Team: Mentor and develop a 10+ person team, fostering capability, accountability, and collaboration. Promote a culture of service, transparency, and continuous improvement grounded in integrity and professionalism.
