About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and results‑driven Controller to lead all aspects of the company’s financial management and accounting operations. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting while partnering closely with the President, CEO, and COO to guide fiscal strategy and support continued growth. The Controller will strengthen internal controls, improve profitability and cash flow, and provide actionable financial insights to support operational excellence. This position is 100% onsite in North Haven, CT and reports directly to the President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cash flow management, and working capital strategies
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders
  • Proven history of partnering with executive leadership on strategic and operational decisions

  • CPA or MBA
  • Experience in distribution, construction supply, real estate, or similar industries

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all day‑to‑day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
  • Oversee the year‑end audit and coordinate with external CPAs and tax advisors
  • Monitor, analyze, and forecast cash flow to support operational liquidity and growth initiatives
  • Manage credit and collections policies to minimize bad debt exposure
  • Oversee vendor payment terms and accounts payable strategy to balance supplier relationships with cash preservation
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts
  • Partner with operations leadership to analyze financial performance by department, product category, and business unit
  • Provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations to improve margins and control costs
  • Analyze pricing models, customer and product profitability, and return on key investments
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO and COO on business strategy, capital investments, and expansion opportunities
  • Support M&A due diligence and post‑acquisition integration efforts as needed
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and financial technologies to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities
  • Develop and refine financial dashboards and KPIs for leadership visibility
  • Lead and develop a team of three direct reports
