About The Position

Falcon Construction is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing commercial construction company. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing construction accounting, financial controls, cash flow management, and reporting across multiple active projects. The Controller will work closely with ownership and executive leadership, providing financial insight, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and helping scale accounting systems and processes as the company continues to grow. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
  • Minimum of 7+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in commercial construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and job cost accounting
  • Experience with progress billings, retainage, and change orders
  • Proficiency in Yardi
  • Proven ability to work directly with ownership and executive leadership

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all construction accounting activities, including job cost accounting, budgets, and project profitability
  • Manage work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Monitor project costs, billings, change orders, and margin performance
  • Partner with project managers and operations to provide timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain oversight of the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audits, and applicable accounting standards
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning
  • Oversee AIA billings, retainage, and collections
  • Support banking relationships, lender reporting, and bonding requirements
  • Identify financial risks and provide recommendations to ownership
  • Oversee accounting systems and reporting, utilizing Yardi
  • Improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff as applicable
  • Support strategic planning and growth initiatives with executive leadership
