About The Position

NOW CFO is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to join our team in the Portland, Oregon area. This is a full-time opportunity offering a base salary of $140,000$160,000 , depending on experience. This role is ideal for a high-level accounting leader with a strong operational mindset who thrives in fast-paced, performance-driven environments. Candidates must have direct experience in both Private Equity-backed companies and the Manufacturing industry. These requirements are non-negotiable , as this role will directly support clients operating within these sectors. We are specifically seeking professionals who understand the financial complexities of Private Equity environments including reporting to investors, navigating portfolio company structures, and driving value creationcombined with deep expertise in Manufacturing accounting , including cost accounting, inventory, and operational finance. Additionally, candidates must be located in or willing to commute throughout the Portland metro area , as this role may require on-site support with clients.

Requirements

  • Controller-level experience required
  • REQUIRED: Experience in both Private Equity-backed companies AND Manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations
  • Experience working with Private Equity firms, including financial reporting and investor-facing deliverables
  • Proficiency with ERP systems
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities with a hands-on approach
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments
  • Must be based in or willing to commute within the Portland, OR area

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • CPA certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all financial and accounting activities
  • Manage full-cycle accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, Inventory, and Revenue Recognition
  • Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, budgets, and financial processes to mitigate risk and drive performance
  • Partner with Private Equity stakeholders and leadership teams to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Provide insights into operational performance, margins, and cost structures within manufacturing environments
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage audit processes
  • Standardize accounting procedures while adapting to the unique needs of portfolio companies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and scalability across finance functions
