About The Position

EverDriven is the nation’s leading provider of alternative student transportation, partnering with school districts to serve students who need it most—including those experiencing homelessness, living with disabilities, or outside traditional bus routes. Our tech-enabled, human-led model helps remove barriers to learning through safe, reliable transportation. Guided by integrity, ownership, and collaboration, we move with urgency, lead with data, and never settle. Our success is driven by people who bring curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to continuous growth. Position Summary: We’re looking for a Controller who can do more than close the books—you’ll build, scale, and optimize a finance function that supports a high-growth, operationally complex business. This role sits at the intersection of accounting rigor and strategic partnership, bringing clarity to ambiguity and structure to scale. You will oversee a team of 10 and support a $200M+ multi-entity business operating across 36 states. If you enjoy cleaning things up and building what comes next, you’ll thrive here.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience (mix of public accounting + industry strongly preferred)
  • CPA required (non-negotiable—sorry, we checked)
  • Experience in high-growth, multi-entity, or operationally complex environments
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and internal controls
  • Proven track record of building or scaling accounting functions
  • Systems-savvy (NetSuite or similar ERP experience preferred)
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on—this is not a “sit back and review” role

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and revenue recognition
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close with a focus on speed, accuracy, and scalability
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls
  • Partner cross-functionally (Ops, FP&A, Product & Technology) to translate financial data into actionable insights
  • Manage audits, tax filings, and external relationships (auditors, advisors, etc.)
  • Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team as the company grows
  • Continuously improve systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure (ERP optimization, automation, etc.)
  • Support strategic initiatives including pricing models, unit economics, and potential M&A activity
