About The Position

Wilson Trailer Company has an opening for a Financial Controller based out of their corporate headquarters in Sioux City, Iowa. The Controller will manage the accounting function throughout the company, including direct oversight of the accounting department. Designs and implements budgetary controls, executes company financial strategy, prepares and reports financial status to management. Responsible for accurate transactions and records and meets government tax obligations. Essential Functions Oversees the company’s accounting function across all departments and owns the execution of near-term strategy to meet company objectives. Managers’ month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Designs and implements budgetary controls to manage income and expenses in each department. Prepares and presents regular consolidated financial statements for review by management and company stakeholders. Responsible for the accurate maintenance of all accounting transactions, data, and records for the company’s internal system as well as local, state, and federal government requirements. Resolves complex problems requiring extensive research and analysis. Influences others to accept new practices or procedures and communicates with and influences executive leadership. Manages the Accounting department, with the responsibility to set goals and priorities, provide technical expertise and perform human resource management functions. Trains and mentor’s employees in business practices and company policies. Prepares and processes management payroll, withholdings, tax filings and payments, retirement plans, profit-sharing, and oversees health care and retirement plan audits. Documents key financial processes for consistency, scalability and audit readiness. Ensures compliance with sales tax filings, excise tax reporting and regulatory requirements. Manages corporate office services such as maintaining records, scanning, retention, and security. The applicant for Controller must have a bachelor's degree in business or accounting - MBA (Master of Business Accounting) & CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or related certification preferred.
