About The Position

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for a growing multi-unit restaurant organization. Reporting to the CFO, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making while driving continuous improvements in systems and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in a multi-unit or high-volume environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Restaurant365 preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments
• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships across functions and communicate effectively with senior leadership

Nice To Haves

• Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail environments strongly preferred
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, cash management, and financial reporting
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and restaurant-level reporting
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures
• Review and analyze general ledger activity and account reconciliations
• Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting systems
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes
• Oversee cash management, including accounts payable, daily cash activity, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring and reporting
• Manage and coordinate the annual audit with external auditors and facilitate the preparation of tax returns with tax advisors
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding tax filing, finances, and reporting requirements
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, establishing clear performance goals and fostering professional growth
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
• Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required
