If so, Auto Driveaway Systems, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to join our private equity owned growing organization. Auto Driveaway is a leading national provider of professional vehicle relocation services. Auto Driveaway primarily serves large corporate fleets, fleet management companies, upfitters, dealerships and vehicle OEMs with fast, safe and reliable door-to-door driveaway service nationwide. Services include fleet shipping and fleet management services; single vehicle “door-to-door driveaway” shipping; expedited shipping; enclosed carrier shipping for high-value vehicles; short-term and long-term vehicle storage; licensing, titling and registration of vehicles; and vehicle maintenance and reconditioning services. The company's growth has been driven by a combination of acquisitions, expanded service offerings, and investment in operational technology. Today, Auto Driveaway operates from more than forty locations and with an extensive network of highly trained, professional drivers to relocate vehicles of all types across North America. The Controller will lead the company’s accounting and financial operations functions, overseeing financial reporting, accounting, audit, and tax activities for the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will manage a team of five accounting professionals responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The role requires a hands-on leader who can ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while helping build scalable processes and controls to support an entrepreneurial platform experiencing meaningful growth. The Controller will operate as part of a collaborative finance leadership team. In addition to the CFO, the role works alongside two senior finance counterparts: one responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning & analysis, and another responsible for P&L management and operational financial performance. This structure allows the Controller to focus on the integrity and execution of the company’s financial reporting and accounting functions while partnering closely with peers who support planning and operational finance activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Proven experience leading a company through full GAAP financial audits.
  • Prior leadership experience managing and developing teams.
  • NetSuite experience (preferred).
  • Background in cost accounting, cost control, and expense management.
  • Must be able to work on-site in an office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial operations for the organization, including general ledger management, financial reporting, internal controls, audit coordination, and tax compliance.
  • Manage and develop a team of five accounting professionals responsible for day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Direct the company’s annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audit deliverables, financial statement reviews, and related reporting requirements.
  • Oversee all tax-related matters for the organization, including coordination with external tax advisors on federal, state, and local filings, tax planning initiatives, and ongoing compliance obligations.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies designed to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory, reporting, and governance standards.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and reserve levels while maintaining relationships with banking partners, insurance providers, and external accounting advisors to support the company’s financial infrastructure.
  • Review and approve disbursements, vendor payments, and financial transactions to ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
  • Analyze financial results and operational trends to identify areas for improved efficiency, cost management, and financial discipline across the organization.
  • Contribute to the continued development of scalable accounting processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure as the platform grows and expands.
