About The Position

The Controller is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company’s financial operations. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise (GAAP), effective communication, sound judgment, and proven leadership and time‑management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP and financial reporting systems
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial analysis, and applicable tax regulations
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to assess the financial impact of day‑to-day operations and special projects.
  • Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and reporting of company financial data, including monthly and year‑end close processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of branch‑level financial reporting.
  • Evaluate current accounting processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead the implementation of enhancements across the organization.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk and safeguard assets, including inventory and operating costs.
  • Perform financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Controller and Cash Accountant to ensure cash and credit card transactions (revenue and expenses) and related journal entries are recorded accurately and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Managers, and the CFO to ensure compliance with state and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership team to analyze operational expenses and drive cost‑effective outcomes.
  • Support the President, Vice Presidents, Regional Managers, and Branch Managers on financial matters related to their areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to optimize ERP systems, enhance productivity, and deliver timely financial information to management at the corporate, regional, and branch levels.
  • Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and any regulatory audits, working closely with external auditors.
