About The Position

SoftWave TRT is a fast-growing medical device company revolutionizing regenerative medicine with FDA-cleared shockwave therapy devices used by top healthcare providers nationwide. SoftWave is seeking a Controller to ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial records, enabling sound financial decision-making across the company. As a contributor to budgeting and financial forecasting, support long-term planning and help guide the organization’s growth. In addition, assess current processes to identify cost-saving opportunities, streamline operations, and implement standardized best practices. Through financial analysis, support strategic decision-making and collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to drive organizational success. This role is ideal for a CPA with public accounting experience who is ready to step into a hands-on Controller role within a fast-growing, mission-driven medical device company. The ideal candidate enjoys building scalable processes, partnering with leadership, and owning the accounting function end-to-end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active CPA license with a strong foundation in GAAP and financial reporting
  • 6+years of progressive corporate accounting/public accounting audit responsibility
  • Proven experience leading a team of professionals
  • Demonstrated experience with utilizing accounting software
  • Can provide examples of partnering with the accounting leadership on complex matters
  • Must possess a full understanding of what is involved with different audits and what data needs to be pulled with each.
  • Able to convey complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to operate as both strategic advisor and hands-on leader

Nice To Haves

  • Background in public accounting (Big 4 or national/regional firm) strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, or PE-backed environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and review all balance sheet accounts, with particular focus on aged items, deferred revenue, and accruals
  • Confirm the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement accurately reflect the company’s financial position and performance
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecast future financial trends, and monitor performance against financial goals.
  • Create/implement strategies for business growth
  • Oversee cash management system including credit facility revolver utilization and cash forecasting/cash flow reporting and modeling
  • Ensure financial reports are accurate and timely through efficient processes and strong internal controls and implement controls to prevent future discrepancies/ensure compliance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with credit agreement terms and required reporting
  • Oversee federal, state and local tax compliance and third-party tax advisors
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable and disbursement functions
  • Supervision of payroll function and staff. Coordinate with HR on payroll, benefit matters
  • Oversee day-to-day insurance and risk management matters and liaison with insurance broker in coordination
  • Develop efficient acquisition processes that allow for seamless integration
  • Quickly establish trust with the leadership team by providing accurate financial reports
  • Ensure information is easily accessible to allow for seamless audits across the organization
  • Train/mentor a high performing team; delegate and supervise tasks effectively
  • Effectively manage and maneuver cross-functional relationships
  • Stay up to date on changes in accounting standards/regulations and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
