About The Position

The Controller plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting of the organization to ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. This position is responsible for managing accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial statement preparation. The Controller collaborates closely with executive leadership to provide insightful financial analysis and support budgeting and forecasting processes that drive informed business decisions. Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls is a key aspect of this role, safeguarding the organization's financial integrity. Ultimately, the Controller contributes to the company’s financial health by optimizing processes, mitigating risks, and supporting sustainable growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and managing month-end and year-end close processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
  • Experience with R365, Toast and ADP Payroll.
  • Previous experience working in a Controller role or senior accounting leadership position.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and experience coordinating tax filings.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate and lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in partnership with department heads.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to enhance team performance and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
