About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Controller to join a newly established commercial construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality construction in the metro area. This unique opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment and is excited to create and implement accounting systems, processes, and reporting structures to support long-term scalability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reports, and construction financial workflows.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and build processes from scratch.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Construction accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement the company’s accounting platform, systems, and financial processes.
• Manage day-to-day accounting including Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, payroll coordination, job costing, banking relationships, and cash flow management.
• Produce accurate financial statements, Work In Progress (WIP) schedules, and job cost reports.
• Partner with project managers to track budgets, change orders, and project profitability.
• Maintain project-specific financial records.
• Assist in compliance requirements such as lien waivers, insurance certificates, and state & federal tax filings/regulations.
