About The Position

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Controller with construction supply/ manufacturing accounting experience. In this leadership role, you will directly report to the Corporate Ownership Group and be responsible for all accounting activities. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a growing Construction Supplier with locations across Utah in Riverdale, Payson and St. George where the corporate office is located. This is an opportunity to join a team of highly motivated individuals who are willing to do what it takes at all times to get the job done, regardless of job description or title.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills and capabilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • 4-year accounting degree at an accredited university.
  • 4-6 years of construction accounting experience preferred.
  • Understanding of revenue recognition principles for contractors.
  • This is a “hands-on” role, so applicants must be willing to not only manage the department but also reconcile accounts, review AP, AR, and Payroll, manage tax payments, and insurance.
  • Familiarity with financial and ratio analysis.
  • Advanced skills with the MS-Office Suite.
  • ERP System experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end close, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage all cash-related functions, including banking, payroll, accounts payable, and receivables/billings.
  • Bank reconciliation for all locations and future expansions.
  • Prepare sales tax returns.
  • Coordinating External Audits, IRS, or State Income Tax.
  • Constantly strive to refine internal business processes and make them more efficient.
  • Support the executive management team in variance analysis, data collection, and analysis and management of key areas of the budget.
  • Establish and maintain systems and internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Inventory Control for P&Ls - Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly P&Ls associated with current CPA.
  • Generate financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate required filings, including local, state, and federal taxes as well as required sales tax filings.
  • Participate in a wide range of special projects and compile various reports.
  • IT reviews and direction.
  • Provide required reporting for banks, surety, and outside accountants.
  • Maintain relationships with banking and surety professionals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
