About The Position

The Contributions & Advancement Officer is responsible for securing philanthropic support to advance the mission and strategic priorities of YWCA York. This position focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual, corporate, and foundation donors; managing a portfolio of major gift prospects; and strengthening donor engagement throughout the organization. The Officer works closely with the CEO to cultivate high-capacity donors and prospects, provides essential support in fundraising strategy and donor communications, and ensures consistent and timely stewardship. Note: This role does not supervise staff. The Grants Director retains primary responsibility for grant writing and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Three to five years of successful fundraising experience, preferably including major gifts.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • High integrity and professionalism
  • Must support the YWCA mission to eliminate racism and empower women
  • Clearances required: PA Criminal Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprinting (or waiver affidavit)
  • Completion of Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of hire
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to program sites as needed
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Occasionally may need to lift supplies up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • DEVELOP AND MANAGE A PORTFOLIO OF 75–125 MAJOR GIFT PROSPECTS.
  • CONDUCT PROSPECT RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY INDIVIDUALS WITH LEADERSHIP GIVING CAPACITY.
  • CREATE INDIVIDUALIZED CULTIVATION AND SOLICITATION STRATEGIES.
  • PREPARE BRIEFING MATERIALS, TALKING POINTS, AND FOLLOW-UP CORRESPONDENCE FOR DONOR MEETINGS.
  • CONDUCT DONOR VISITS INDEPENDENTLY AND WITH THE CEO.
  • MAINTAIN TIMELY DONOR INTERACTION RECORDS.
  • Implement stewardship plans for donors at all levels.
  • Draft donor letters, proposals, acknowledgements, and impact reports.
  • Support cultivation events focused on donor relations
  • Strengthen engagement through personalized communication and mission storytelling.
  • Partner with the CEO to build relationships with key leaders.
  • Assist in developing the annual fundraising plan.
  • Track progress toward revenue targets and recommend adjustments.
  • Identify sponsorship opportunities and prepare proposals.
  • Coordinate donor components of campaigns and appeals.
  • Support donor messaging in collaboration with communications resources.
  • PARTNERS WITH THE GRANTS DIRECTOR AS NEEDED TO:
  • PROVIDE DONOR DATA OR NARRATIVES FOR GRANT PROPOSALS.
  • IDENTIFY POTENTIAL CORPORATE/FOUNDATION OPPORTUNITIES.
  • ASSIST WITH STEWARDSHIP RELATED TO GRANT-FUNDED PARTNERS.
