About The Position

Allen Control Systems (ACS) is a cutting-edge defense startup founded by two ex-Navy electrical engineers with a proven track record in robotics and software. We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Contracts Manager to oversee government and commercial contracting activities across the business. This role will support proposal efforts, manage contract execution, and ensure compliance with Department of Defense contracting requirements. The position is designed to scale as programs mature from early-stage R&D through production and may grow over time based on business needs. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with a range of DoD contract structures, understands proposal organization and compliance requirements, and can effectively manage agreements, deliverables, and timelines in a fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, contracts management, law, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in government contracts management, preferably within the defense or aerospace sector.
  • Strong familiarity with DoD contracting vehicles including SBIR, OTA, IDIQ, and BAA.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting proposal organization and compliance.
  • Proven experience reviewing and managing NDAs, subcontracts, and SOWs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer government and commercial contracts, including SBIR, OTA, IDIQ, BAA, and related agreement structures.
  • Support proposal development by ensuring proper organization, compliance, and submission requirements are met.
  • Review, negotiate, and execute NDAs, subcontracts, SOWs, teaming agreements, and other contractual documents.
  • Coordinate with technical, finance, legal, and leadership teams to ensure contracts align with program goals and company strategy.
  • Track contractual deliverables, milestones, and reporting requirements as projects progress.
  • Identify risks related to compliance, scope, schedule, and funding, and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.
