About The Position

Temporary Part Time Contracts Manager, Medical Affairs is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end contracting process that supports all Medical Affairs teams and key cross-functional partners. This role ensures timely, compliant, and accurate execution of agreements by serving as the primary liaison between Medical Affairs stakeholders, Legal, Procurement, and external vendors. The Manager will manage contract intake, review, routing, status tracking, and close-out activities while ensuring alignment with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards. This role requires strong knowledge of medical affairs–related contract types—including consulting agreements, master service agreements, confidentiality agreements, speaker and advisory contracts, data and research agreements, and service-based vendor contracts. The Manager will support process improvements, strengthen documentation standards, and partner closely with Legal to ensure consistent application of contract terms and guidelines. A polished, professional approach is essential, as the position interacts frequently with internal teams, external partners, and functional leadership. Employed through a preferred contingent supplier to support projects on-site or off-site for Neurocrine.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree and 4+ years of relevant experience in contract management, legal operations, or administrative operations within pharmaceutical/biotech or a related regulated industry OR Master’s degree preferred and 2+ years of similar experience noted above OR 6+ years of experience in contract operations, legal support, or related functions; experience supporting Medical Affairs preferred
  • Strong understanding of contract types common to Medical Affairs, including consulting/fee-for-service agreements, confidentiality agreements, MSAs, research agreements, and event/services contracts
  • Demonstrated experience working with Legal, Compliance, and Finance teams to ensure contract accuracy and alignment with corporate policies
  • Familiarity with contract management systems, document control tools, workflow trackers, and routing platforms
  • Ability to interpret contract language, identify risks, and communicate required revisions or clarifications
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a track record of managing high-volume, time-sensitive workflows
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort interpreting process metrics or operational KPIs
  • Exceptional professionalism with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams, manage competing priorities, and independently drive deliverables in a dynamic environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, documentation standards, and compliance expectations

Responsibilities

  • Manages the full lifecycle of Medical Affairs contracts, ensuring timely processing, accuracy, and adherence to compliance and legal standards
  • Serves as the operational owner for Medical Affairs contracting workflows—tracking requests, managing submissions, monitoring progress, and ensuring successful execution
  • Partners with Legal, Procurement, Finance, and Compliance to secure required approvals and ensure alignment with corporate policies
  • Coordinates contract intake and triage, clarifying requirements with stakeholders and advising on appropriate contract types and processes
  • Facilitates updates to contract templates, playbooks, and documentation tools in collaboration with Legal
  • Ensures contract terms, scopes of work, deliverables, and financial elements are appropriately defined and cross-checked prior to submission
  • Maintains detailed records, audit trails, and tracking mechanisms across all agreements to support compliance, reporting, and operational transparency
  • Responds to stakeholder inquiries and provides guidance on timelines, required documents, and process expectations
  • Supports Medical Affairs leaders with contract planning, forecasting, and prioritization to meet business needs
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to streamline workflows, enhance user experience, and strengthen governance
  • Partners with cross-functional teams—such as Medical Excellence, Compliance, and Finance—to ensure downstream operational readiness
  • Prepares status updates, dashboards, and contract cycle analytics for leadership and business partners
  • Upholds a high standard of professionalism and ensures all interactions reflect the values and expectations of the Medical Affairs organization
