The Continuous Improvement Engineer provides a full range of productivity services to Operations and direct cost reduction initiatives for the facility including developing and measuring facility systems and programs, developing and delivering continuous improvement engineering projects for the facility. Direction in disciplines of best business practices including, but not limited to, yield improvement, manpower utilization, overhead spend, capital utilization, indirect spend, plant utilization and efficiency, working capital both raw material and finished goods. Principle Accountabilities: Generate cost reduction opportunities/direct the engineering activities along with manufacturing to initiate/implement process improvement to reduce manufacturing costs. Coordinate major initiatives across the supply chain to ensure optimum cost. This coordination will include, but not be limited to, purchasing, distribution, manufacturing, R&D, packaging and engineering. Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean), including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation. Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list Finds problematic downtime sources, searches for a root cause and creates a solution to eliminate the issue. Project Scoping: Define new projects and present estimates / ROI report Technology Integration: Evaluate and adopt new technologies. Vendor Negotiation: Interface with suppliers for equipment or solutions. Develop SOPs, work instructions, and technical specifications. Communicate with storeroom to ensure there is an inventory of parts needed after a new implementation. Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/Six Sigma projects. Monitor performance data to identify bottlenecks and insights Optimization: Enhance process efficiency, yield, and profitability. Redesigns and/or modify parts for better performance or to fit needs more efficiently. Create prototypes to trial before scaling up and proceeding with the below. Draws prints and communicates with internal and/or external machine shops to bring drawing to life. Author and present change management forms prior to any addition or modifications to the manufacturing process. Communicate and cooperate with quality team to ensure all the above complies with rules and regulations.
