About The Position

The Manufacturing Continuous Improvement Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for improving manufacturing systems, processes, and performance through data analysis and structured continuous improvement. This position works directly on the production floor to identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement sustainable improvements related to parts, processes, material flow, and operational systems. This role is not a desk-only position. Success requires regular presence on the shop floor, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn data into actionable improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field OR equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong data analysis skills (Excel required; ERP/MRP experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Highly committed, self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Hands-on, action-oriented problem solver
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor daily
  • Data-driven decision maker
  • Strong communication across all levels of the organization
  • Able to drive projects to completion, not just analysis
  • Organized, disciplined, and improvement-focused
  • A pre-employment drug test and criminal background check are required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, production reporting, and scheduling systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material flow, and shop floor operations.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) a plus, not required.
  • Solid understanding of Return on Investment (ROI) and Cost of Poor-Quality identification (CPQ)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (RCA, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA, DMAIC) to recurring operational issues.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions through implementation and verification.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, material flow, and work standards to identify waste, variation, and inefficiencies.
  • Support improvements to plant safety, 6S, scheduling, inventory control, part flow, and work sequencing.
  • Develop and improve standard work, visual management, and process documentation.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data (production, quality, scrap, downtime, inventory, etc.).
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities using data rather than assumptions.
  • Develop simple, effective metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to support decision-making.
  • Ensure improvement sustainability utilizing layered process audits and development of sustainability metrics.
  • Support part-related and process-related issues including flow constraints, quality concerns, and change implementation.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production to resolve issues impacting performance.
  • Assist with new process implementation, changes, and validation as needed.
  • Work directly with operators, supervisors, and managers to identify issues and implement improvements.
  • Facilitate improvement events, kaizen activities, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions.
  • Coach teams on CI tools, data usage, and disciplined execution.
