Content Project Requirements team oversees historical records and understands how they are used in research, contributing to the definition of how that content is indexed and presented on the site and coordinating with other teams involved in the production process. Their primary responsibility is writing keying instructions and creating image samples for the indexing process. Content Project Requirements Specialist focuses on analyzing historical records to be processed for online publication and documenting the project requirements for indexing. They also manage collection description data. They should have strong analytical and communication skills, an understanding of historical records, show great care for detail, can work well on a team, and are self-motivated and innovative. Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm 1 year contract Hybrid in office preferred Compensation will be $20 - $25 per hour

Requirements

  • A bachelors degree or something similar would be preferred.
  • Good writing skills are definitely needed.
  • And being comfortable enough to present what they've been working on and researching.
  • Being able to work independently, while they will be working alongside the team on similar tasks and projects, they will be working on their own projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Any familiarity on languages or history is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical record collections to understand their content and organizational/grammatical structure, and how to best extract the data for search and use online
  • Read and translate documents in different languages (i.e. German, Nordic, Finnish, Latin, French, Old-English, Cyrillic, Romanian, Hawaiian, Spanish) We use google translate and Gemini for most this.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings across multiple teams
  • Determine and document detailed project requirements for indexing together with content project managers and the content publishing team. This includes planning, creating, writing, and editing clear and succinct keying instructions for our multiple keying partners and creating image samples
  • Consult relevant information sources, including several online resources, to obtain background information on each new project
  • Present finished work to department stake-holders and resolve any questions that may arise
  • Create technical files for offshore keying partners to use in their data input
  • Analyze and use metadata, authority dictionaries and live digital content to help extract data from images for use on the site
  • Monitor the progress of projects through the indexing production process and respond to questions that come up during indexing
  • Support continuous improvement of production processes and standards
