About The Position

The Contact Lens Associate is responsible for ordering, fitting, and dispensing contact lenses. This position will perform day-to-day tasks to ensure all optical patients' needs are met, including, contact lens insertion and removal classes and follow-up care. They must possess strong sales skills by demonstrating a high level of knowledge about our products. The Contact Lens Associate must be able to work with our diverse base of customers (i.e. pediatric, adolescent, and adult) by delivering quality care and outstanding and friendly customer service and establishing customer loyalty.

Requirements

  • Associates must possess either a High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of eyecare experience required
  • Ability to demonstrate eye–hand coordination, manual/finger dexterity, agility, and color vision and depth perception with visual acuity correctable to 20/25 while fitting eyeglasses and contacts
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office; especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes
  • Team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and to build consensus among cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice Dispensing Optician License preferred
  • ABO and/or NCLE preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interpret contact lens prescriptions written by ophthalmologist or optometrist to determine proper specifications and brand
  • Recommend appropriate contact lenses after considering the prescription and the patient's lifestyle needs
  • Sell and Dispense contact lenses under supervision of physician or LDO
  • Place contact lens orders with appropriate vendors
  • Instructs patients on proper insertion, removal, and proper care for contact lenses
  • Troubleshoot patient RX issues and act as a liaison between patient and physician
  • Maintain Contact Lens Trial Inventory
  • Properly document, track, and follow-up on patient orders to ensure superb customer service
