About The Position

Centurion Health is the provider of mental health services to the Florida Department of Corrections. They are seeking a full-time Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist to join their team at Reception and Medical Center located in Lake Butler, Florida, 25 miles north of Gainesville. This role involves providing inpatient services or reception and outpatient psychiatric services in a large male correctional hospital. The psychiatrist will care for patients with complex comorbid psychiatric and general medical conditions. This site qualifies for NHSC Loan Repayment and has a qualifying score of 6. The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients, work under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director, and provide clinical leadership for a multidisciplinary team in delivering mental health services to patients with psychiatric disorders or other mental health issues. Centurion Health contracts with state and local governments nationwide to provide comprehensive healthcare services to correctional facilities, state hospitals, and other community settings.

Requirements

  • Documentation of education as MD or DO and completion of US accredited psychiatry residency program required
  • Current license to practice medicine in Florida as a psychiatrist required
  • Board Certification or Eligible in Psychiatry required
  • Must have an active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration certificate
  • Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification
  • Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing as psychiatrist in a clinical setting preferred
  • Experience in correctional mental health care or locked unit preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients
  • Work under the supervision of the Psychiatric Medical Director
  • Provide clinical leadership for a multidisciplinary team in providing mental health services to patients with psychiatric disorders or other mental health issues
  • Care for patients with complex comorbid psychiatric and general medical conditions
  • Participate in rotational on call approximately every 6 to 8 weeks
