About The Position

What Benefits contributes to Cardinal Health Human Resources designs, implements and delivers human resource programs and policies, including recruitment, talent management, diversity and inclusion, compensation and benefits, among others. This function anticipates and plans for long-term human resource needs in alignment with business strategies. Benefits designs, implements and administers benefits plans, ensuring that the total benefits package is competitive with the market, meets company objectives, and is compliant. This job family manages relationships and coordinates with third party vendors for benefits plan development and administration, and collaborates with the Internal Communications family to educate employees and promote enrollment. Job Summary Under direct supervision, reporting to the Manager, Benefits, assist in the coordination and development of the organization's day-to-day Managed Service Organizations benefits plans, and other employee services. Consults on strategy and design of onboarding provider practices and works closely with HRIT and HRIS to set up MSO plans. Manage communications for provider groups’ new hires and Annual Enrollment. Partner with HRBPs, Legal, and vendors to ensure compliance. Support due diligence and integration planning. Serve as point of contact for provider groups benefits administration. Responsible for day-to-day carrier management, conduit with key stakeholders, and invoicing. Governance and compliance, identification through evaluation and analysis to support driving approval of benefit program enhancements, process improvements, and benchmarking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; advanced university degree preferred.
  • 5+ years related experience in benefits, compensation, finance, and/or human resources preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of benefits experience with focus in US health, welfare and retirement, and MSO plans.
  • Experience in finance, actuary, human resources, treasury, accounting, or risk management, also a plus.
  • Strong analytical and risk analysis skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills and ability to create presentations for leadership.
  • Enjoy working with others in a team atmosphere.
  • Prefer fast-paced working environment with ability to learn new concepts and techniques quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge in the field of US health & welfare benefits with a knowledge of total rewards and other functional areas, with multiple areas of specialization.
  • Advanced knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment related to US health & welfare programs, including emerging legislation.
  • Excellent project management and process development skills.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and presentation skills, including both written and verbal forms catered to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including competency in financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and interpret needs into workable programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while staying within the scope of the overall strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Leverages benefit best practices and benchmarking in wellness, work/life, health & welfare, and/or EAP to design and implement competitive benefit programs.
  • Serves as a support team member for US and MSO health, welfare, and retirement programs.
  • Reviews and analyzes trends and advises leadership on the state of programs/benefits, demonstrating an understanding of the market dynamics, key competitor benefit plan design, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current benefits regulatory environment, including ERISA, IRS, DOL and SOX, current market and benefits legislation trends and demographic requirements to ensure plan compliance and competitiveness.
  • Act as a partner to internal teams for gathering and providing vital benefits information.
  • Participates in mergers and acquisition activities in order to integrate newly acquired company employees into Cardinal Health's benefits programs.
  • Manage employee escalations, exceptions and appeals and provide advice and monitor resolution on full range of benefit and related topics.
  • Benefit Administration: Work closely with HRIS Benefits Administrator in the benefits plan set up.
  • Lead the testing and preparations in advance of annual enrollment.
  • Manage the annual open enrollment process, including setting up plan designs for upcoming calendar year, communication strategies, and employee education.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and timely.
  • Monitor claims activity and address any issues with insurance providers.
  • Maintain accurate employee benefits records and documentation.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage the other employers’ benefit budget, including invoice processing and identifying potential cost-saving measures.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for the participating employers.
