About The Position

Wood is currently seeking applications for Construction Project Engineers to support Industrial Construction Projects as site locations throughout the USS. Construction Project Engineer is involved in every stage, from initiation through commissioning and startup of a project and assures the technical quality and integrity of each project, providing key support to help bring projects in on schedule and within budget. We are seeking people to help manage complex construction projects ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Experience in Industrial Construction is preferred, but not required. Those without that experience, but with a desire to gain that experience are equally encouraged to apply. There are multiple positions, with different levels of responsibilities depending on the location and complexity of the project, but all positions are on-site at locations throughout the USA. You will be assigned to a site location for the duration of the project. Projects vary in duration, generally from 6 to 24 months. The role can present opportunities for both project and people leadership working in a range of interesting and diverse sectors including; Upstream / Midstream / Downstream Oil & Gas Chemicals Renewable Energy Power Mining & Minerals Industrials & Manufacturing Life Sciences Paper & Biomaterials

Requirements

  • Currently authorized to work in USA without sponsorship from Wood
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in a construction related field
  • Proficiency in document creation and editing (Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel)
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing requirements to a wide range of client groups (internal and external)
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently, or in a team environment, and provide leadership, support, direction, and consultation
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills to meet project deadlines
  • Willingness to travel, participate in activities, network and build relationships
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to organize, analyze and report on various parameters and data sets
  • Ability to proactively detect challenges to safety, quality, cost and schedule that will ensure development and execution of effective prevention, mitigation, or corrective actions
  • Able to establish and maintain a positive and effective customer relationship, ensuring payment terms are met, and communicating any delays.
  • Well organized, observant, good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with timelines/targets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project specific construction management procedures.
  • Implement the overall Project Execution Plan, and perform those activities needed to construct the facility and pre-commission it for startup.
  • Assisting with the delivery and timely execution of the project/contract/service and ensure the contract requirements are satisfied.
  • Ensure technical and quality requirements are understood and complied with and prepare quality plans and documents in accordance with the relevant project, statutory and legislative requirements
  • Assists in management and control of construction cost and schedule.
  • Assists in the management of installation, commissioning and completion activities for hardware, plant and equipment.
  • Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
  • Deliver against agreed planned work scopes ensuring obligations are met.
  • Provide advanced technical discipline input to scope definition and execution.
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment is fully certificated and controlled cost effectively.
  • Ensure effective control of all material movements, including inventory and receiving.
  • If identified, react to change in scope, inform necessary parties and complete the necessary change management documentation.
  • Check installation quality and subsequent verification are completed in accordance with requirements.
  • Participate in audits and incident investigations as required.
  • Provides significant coaching, mentoring and guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Manages RFI and Field Change Process, maintains documentation and logs as necessary.
  • Coordinates with Vendors for topics such as Technical Support, Site Visits, Delivery Issues
  • Responsible for assisting with the development of the PMP/PEP, bid submissions, construction methodology and strategies.
  • Provide construction technical support to the customer and the Wood engineering team, throughout the FEED and detailed design phases of a project.
  • Work with project controls in developing the build sequence/construction schedule and proactively risk managing of the schedule.
  • Provides input to the contracting strategy and during bid clarification process.
  • Contribute advanced discipline experience to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes and team development.
  • Primary workplace is field office at construction site.
