About The Position

Bohannan Huston is seeking an experienced construction professional to join their team as a Construction Observer. This role offers an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in overseeing the construction phase of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The Construction Observer will play a critical role in delivering transformative projects that positively impact communities across New Mexico and the Southwest.

Requirements

• You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• You have at least 3+ years of experience in roadway or utility infrastructure construction either with an engineering firm or as an employee of a general construction contractor.
• You have past experience in construction management or observation.
• You have written and oral communication skills, computer skills (Word and Excel).
• You have the ability to track unit price quantities, read plans, and understand standard specifications.
• You are determined, organized, detail oriented, and customer focused.

Nice To Haves

• Construction materials laboratory testing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily observation of construction activities to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Prepare and maintain accurate daily field reports.
• Track material quantities and unit prices.
• Interpret plans and specifications and maintain a red-line set of construction drawings.
• Assist contractors with RFIs and review material submittals.
• Conduct field testing of construction materials.
• Retrieve and document construction material samples.
• Perform other tasks associated with construction observation and inspection as assigned.
• Frequent overnight travel may be required; per diem will be provided.
