We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Field Engineer / Party Chief to join our team. This role is responsible for layout, surveying, and quality control in support of heavy civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in survey equipment and GPS machine control systems, as well as the ability to lead field crews and coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and equipment operators. Requirements

  • Construction Management, Surveying, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction survey/layout
  • Proficiency with Topcon GPS, robotic total stations, levels, and related data collection software
  • Hands-on experience with machine control systems for grading and excavation
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and civil design principles
  • Ability to interpret CAD files, digital terrain models (DTMs), and coordinate systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to project sites as needed
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3 D" Magnet Field/Office or similar design/survey software
  • Familiarity with earthwork, roadways, utilities, and site development projects
  • Leadership experience managing survey or field crews

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction layout, staking, and as-built surveys using Topcon GPS, robotic total stations, and data collection software
  • Manage and maintain GPS base stations, rovers, robotic total stations, and machine control equipment
  • Upload and maintain 3 D models, alignments, and project data to machine control systems (dozers, graders, excavators, etc.)
  • Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to ensure layout and grades are accurate and align with project design
  • Conduct quality control checks to verify elevations, grades, and dimensions meet project specifications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve survey, robotic total station, or machine control issues in the field
  • Maintain accurate daily survey records, notes, and data files
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to field staff and equipment operators
  • Assist in quantity tracking and production reporting as required
