About The Position

The Construction Engineer Associate llI will perform intermediate to advanced-level engineering duties associated with the construction of civil engineering projects. This position will support all aspects of construction projects for roadways, bridges, utilities, sewers, facilities, etc.; perform oversight and inspection of contractor activities; interpret plans and specifications and ensure work is performed in accordance with them; document field activities; measure and calculate quantities of work completed; observe materials testing and ensure proper materials are incorporated into the work.

Requirements

Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
Licensure: Professional Engineer preferred; Valid Driver’s License required for driving to job sites (commute times may vary depending on project locations)
Experience: Typically 8+ years of experience required.
Communication Skills: Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; Working knowledge of CAD software a plus
Knowledge of mathematics and its application to engineering computations
Can work effectively individually or as part of a team
Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect for our stakeholders
Show insight into the root causes of problems. Generates a range of solutions and courses of action with benefits, costs, and risks associated with each
Consider both short and long-term interests of the client in making decisions

Completes state-required competency.
Attends job-related seminars and workshops.

Responsibilities

Possesses foundational engineering concepts
Acquires intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills through mentored experience
Evaluates and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment
Performs work assignments of moderate to advanced complexity; Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes
Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on possible solutions to unconventional or complex problems
Works as part of a team and coordinates work with others
Typically receives moderate supervision on most aspects of assignments and a general review of all aspects of work
Possesses proficient oral and written communication skills
Interacts with both internal project team members as well as direct communication with clients or other stakeholders
Adheres to project deadlines and keeps the task manager informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments
Performs review of own work before submitting to the next level for review
Understands and interprets project plans and specifications
Performs daily inspection and/or oversight of contractor’s activities to ensure all work is performed in accordance with the project plans and specifications
Documents field activities and submits daily reports
Measures and calculates quantities of completed work
Observes materials testing at a construction site
Ensures proper materials are incorporated into the work
Reports task related information to the Project Lead
Performs/assists with schedule review, submittal review, RFI responses, and maintaining project records and filing system
May assist the Project Lead with other duties as assigned
