About The Position

Configuration Manager Job Description: The selected configuration Manager must have both leadership and technical experience; they will provide direction and expertise during the establishment of a robust configuration management program. The configuration manager will not only lead a small team but will also participate as an individual contributor. They must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge in establishing and maintaining the consistency of information regarding the design requirements, functional and physical attributes, and operational information of enterprise configuration items (CIs). Candidates should have in-depth knowledge and experience in IT asset, configuration, change, release, and deployment management. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, business management, and customer service skills

Requirements

  • The selected configuration Manager must have both leadership and technical experience; they will provide direction and expertise during the establishment of a robust configuration management program.

  • They must be detail-oriented and have in-depth knowledge in establishing and maintaining the consistency of information regarding the design requirements, functional and physical attributes, and operational information of enterprise configuration items (CIs).
  • Candidates should have in-depth knowledge and experience in IT asset, configuration, change, release, and deployment management.
  • Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal, business management, and customer service skills
  • This position requires five (5) years of intensive and progressive specialized experience.
  • This position also requires Germany TESA as follows: Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years relevant experience (or) Associate’s degree and 7 years relevant experience (or) No degree and 11 years of directly applicable experience
  • Note: Minimum experience requirement will be the greater of position and TESA requirements.
  • ITIL4 Foundations (or) ITIL (Version 5) Foundations
  • Required Certification(s) – to be incrementally obtained in full no later than 180 days after hire: ITIL Practitioner: IT Asset Management ITIL Practitioner: Service Configuration Management ITIL Practitioner: Change Enablement
  • The candidate who possesses one or all of these certifications and meets all other minimum requirements will be prioritized for hire.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study which is closely related to the work to be automated and 5 years relevant experience, and/or in a computer science, information system, a physical science, engineering or a mathematics-intensive discipline.
  • Candidate must meet Germany TESA requirements as follows: Germany: A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of recent specialized experience; or Associates Degree and seven (7) years of recent specialized experience; or No degree and 11 years or recent specialized experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive, effective CM program
  • Governance: Developing and implementing overarching CM procedures and establishing responsibilities, authorities, and plan approval levels
  • Establish an IT asset management program; make recommendations for implementation of an asset management system subject to funding restrictions and provide an interim solution for asset management
  • Track assets and configuration items through the full lifecycle; provide detailed analysis the informs customer lifecycle planning.
  • Establish a mechanism to collect configuration data; make recommendations for implementation of a configuration management database (CMDB) subject to funding restrictions and provide an interim solution for management of configuration items.
  • Supports the development of CMDB policy, processes and knowledge base.
  • Provide oversight for organizational Configuration Management Database (CMDB) auditing to ensure the accuracy of configuration data and proper reporting and status accounting.
  • Works with the Configuration management team, to improve CI data integrity regarding classes, naming conventions, attributes, data sources, and relationships
  • Assisting in developing standard IT configuration management methodology; establish a mature process for change management/enablement.
  • Monitoring standards compliance, as well as change and release implementation
  • Ensure the establishment of detailed records that provide current state of CIs, historical changes, and checks/balances that are fully auditable.
  • Conducting Technical Review Board (TRB) and Change Review Board (CRB) meetings or other medium established to manage change control.
  • Provide strategic guidance and process improvement recommendations that facilitates efficient data capture, synchronization, and deconfliction that ensures the accuracy, currency, and relevancy of information captured through discovery, API integrations, and manual inputs.
  • Draft controls, policies, procedures, and processes based on NIST CM Controls and DoD CIO ZTA directives, standards, and frameworks.
  • Ensure all CM processes and workflows are aligned with NIST SP 800-128 (Security Focused Configuration Management).
  • Continuous improvements for the automation and maintenance of non-discoverable data attributes including integration of other asset management systems.
  • Works with other ITSM processes to inform configuration management activities based on new requirements ensuring alignment to NIST and ZTA frameworks
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to build seamless dashboard with CI metrics and analytics that support health tracking of CIs, and their relationships, impact to changes.
