About The Position

DecisionPoint seeks a Configuration Manager to oversee configuration control, documentation governance, and requirements traceability for a Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise modernization program. This effort supports the sustainment and evolution of information systems that enable secure, interoperable, and compliant mission operations for Casualty and Mortuary Affairs (CMA) and related DoD stakeholders. The Configuration Manager will ensure all configuration items (CIs), baselines, and deliverables remain accurate, traceable, and auditable across multiple environments and program phases. The role integrates configuration management (CM) discipline with requirements management and document control, supporting system development, testing, and sustainment activities. Requirements

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in configuration management or requirements management within large-scale federal or defense programs.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining CM systems and deliverable repositories in a multi-environment, cloud-hosted ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in configuration and change management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow.
  • Experience developing Configuration Management Plans (CMPs) and managing controlled baselines.
  • Familiarity with DoD and ITIL CM processes, including CMDB population, version control, and audit support.
  • Understanding of system lifecycle management, requirements traceability, and document versioning standards.
  • Working knowledge of DISA STIGs, DoDAF artifacts, and DoD data security requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Analytical thinker capable of managing complex CM baselines and evolving project documentation.
  • Ability to balance rigor with agility in a dynamic development environment.
  • Proactive approach to maintaining configuration compliance and audit readiness.

Nice To Haves

  • ITIL Foundation or Configuration Management II/III (CMII) certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification.
  • PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain configuration management plans, processes, and repositories to support system and documentation version control.
  • Manage configuration items (CIs) across development, testing, and production environments, ensuring traceability to requirements and design baselines.
  • Serve as the primary administrator for configuration and requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
  • Maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) linking user needs to design specifications, test cases, and deployed functionality.
  • Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, and quality assurance teams to ensure all updates follow approved configuration control procedures.
  • Oversee Change Control Board (CCB) operations, documenting configuration decisions, approvals, and implementation outcomes.
  • Manage and archive technical and contractual deliverables, ensuring version control and compliance with submission standards.
  • Track release artifacts, build versions, and deployment packages to maintain alignment across environments.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews by providing configuration item lists, baselines, and documentation histories.
  • Develop and maintain CM dashboards and reports to provide real-time visibility into version status, pending changes, and document health.
  • Ensure alignment between CM processes and Quality Management Plan (QMP) and Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) frameworks.
  • Provide CM training and guidance to project teams to ensure consistent adherence to established policies and workflows.
  • Participate in deployment readiness reviews and verify that all release artifacts meet configuration and documentation requirements.
