Job Summary The primary role of the Configuration Management (CM) Specialist involves ERP entry and management of datasets which comprise a part or assembly that is purchased, designed, built, and/or tested. This is a key role within the transition of Engineering prototypes through subsequent phases of volume manufacturing for repeatable, lean, and successful product realization. The CM Specialist will create and manage configurations of parts and products using systematic change control processes and tools, to allow efficient downstream procurement, real-time inventory management, and comprehensive production planning.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or technical field, or over 10 years of applicable experience
  • ERP data entry and data management
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Adobe Acrobat, Reader or other PDF editor applications
  • JIRA or other task management applications
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • This position may be asked to drive for company purposes during the course of employment. If asked and agreed upon, employees must possess a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • May participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier or customer management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information, solely to verify your identity.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely entry of data into the ERP for configurable items:
  • Electronic components and PCB assemblies
  • Cables
  • Mechanical parts and assemblies
  • FW and SW releases
  • Assembly and Test fixtures
  • Special processes and finishes
  • Other product realization-related data
  • Creation and control of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Routes a.k.a. Production Lists (PLs)
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure their respective inputs (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Document Control, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service)
  • Integrate support documentation and fixturing into the BOMs to accommodate resource and capacity planning.
  • Work with Purchasing and Engineering to maintain accurate supplier and MFG p/n data for all Approved Manufacturer Listings (AMLs).
  • Develop and maintain Service Production Lists used for RMAs
  • Train and enforce the Revision Control rulesets through the product realization chain: Engineering to Supply Chain to Manufacturing
  • Facilitate the drawing and work instruction release processes
  • Monitor the flow of content changes from redline proposal to release
  • Gate the release process to ensure the accurate implementation of approved content changes
  • Drawing types include supplier-provided, Customer Source Control, designed mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, electronic schematics, etc.
  • Work instruction types include in-house build/test instructions, field use instructions, contract manufacturer (CM) instructions, etc.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure accurate and timely release of content changes per stakeholder approval to prevent delays to production and procurement
  • Perform and continuously improve the Issue System (ISS), change control, and related processes
  • Facilitate Change Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Develop and update configuration flow and workflow diagrams to visualize and communicate proposed changes
  • Assist with or prepare change proposals that result in Document and Engineering Change Orders (DCO and ECO).
  • Support the execution of change activities through change completion/closure
  • Understand, support, and implement the following TA Processes within our QMS to satisfy our quality and OTD objectives:
  • NCR (Non-Conformance Report)
  • CA (Corrective Action)
  • CI (Continuous Improvement)
  • ECO (Engineering Change Order)
  • DCO (Document Change Order)
  • RMA (Return Material Authorization: product repair)
