About The Position

FWI is building a team to plan, coordinate, and host ten regional pedestrian safety summits across all NHTSA regions nationwide. As a Conference Facilitator, you will design and guide each summit to ensure sessions stay on course, all participants are engaged, and the agreed-upon meeting goals are reached. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Education/Experience Substitution: PhD and 0 years experience; Master's and 2 years experience; Associate's and 6 years experience; High School and 8 years experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating conferences, summits, or large-scale meetings focused on traffic safety, pedestrian safety, or public health
  • Demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups including law enforcement, community organizations, tribal partners, disability rights advocates, and government officials
  • Background in road safety, vulnerable road user programs, or transportation safety countermeasures
  • Experience designing interactive meeting formats that encourage participation and produce actionable outcomes
  • Familiarity with NHTSA, State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs), and the pedestrian safety stakeholder landscape
  • Previous experience supporting a similar Government agency or large-scale corporate environment

Responsibilities

  • Design the structure and flow for each summit, developing agendas that balance speaker presentations, interactive breakout sessions, emerging issues discussions, and regionally specific topics
  • Facilitate summit sessions with confidence, guiding conversations, encouraging participation from all attendees, and keeping discussions focused and productive
  • Engage a diverse range of stakeholders including law enforcement, public health officials, community organizations, tribal partners, disability rights advocates, faith-based groups, planners, engineers, and other pedestrian safety professionals
  • Navigate challenging dynamics during sessions, adapting your approach in real time to maintain a constructive and inclusive environment
  • Promote the sharing of innovative pedestrian safety strategies and countermeasures that attendees can apply in their communities
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Program Coordinator to align facilitation plans with overall summit logistics and objectives
  • Incorporate evaluation touchpoints throughout each summit to capture participant feedback and inform improvements for future events
  • Travel to summit locations across all ten NHTSA regions to facilitate each event in person
