Art Studio Facilitator (Part time)

About The Position

Reporting to the Education Manager, the Art Studio Facilitator will be responsible for optimizing the visitor experience in the art studio and exhibit areas by providing expertise in early childhood (ages 0-8 years) and adult education in the arts.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Engage early childhood and adult visitors through developmentally appropriate practices to enhance the museum experience through art and to assist with understanding process art and how to engage their child in different art activities Set and reset the art studio throughout the day, conduct sanitization tasks to ensure the cleanliness of the art studio and museum Implement art related museum programming for all visitors, review visitor evaluations and revise activities based upon evaluation feedback with approval   Support and collaborate with Education staff and other departments to support the museum mission Test new materials and recommend new material use in future art related activities.   ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Attend mandatory monthly training, safety training and other department/museum meetings as requested Perform other duties as assigned by the Education Manager and/or Education Specialists  The successful candidate will possess the following:

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of high school, with preferred high school diploma or GED equivalency
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working with/teaching young children in fine arts; additional experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the visual arts and their application
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft suite, utilization of the Internet
  • Verbal and written communication skills required to provide a satisfying visitor experience and to appropriately engage employees and others while performing job functions
  • Friendly demeanor and positive attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities
