About The Position

The Concrete Finisher at Bob Miller Masonry, Inc. is responsible to assist in the completion of construction projects by performing concrete work or job-site related duties such as smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete with the highest possible level of workmanship. The Concrete Finisher reports directly to and is fully accountable to a Site foreman. Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related concrete experience as a form setter and finisher in the commercial and residential construction industry, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Construction trade certification (Apprentice and Journeyman)
  • Complete understanding of all facets of concrete construction (commercial, residential and decorative concrete.) including blueprint reading, layout, design, form settings, concrete finishing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related concrete experience as a form setter and finisher in the commercial, industrial and residential construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work areas for concrete surface:
  • Measures/marks area to be formed.
  • Levels area and sets grade.
  • Removes debris.
  • Set up and align forms for concrete area in walls, sidewalks, curbs, or gutters:
  • Check the forms that holds the concrete to ensure they are properly constructed
  • Patch voids
  • Use saws to cut expansion joints.
  • Pouring of cement into forms:
  • Places and vibrates concrete into sections of forms.
  • Levels cement to appropriate depth and consistency.
  • Shapes surfaces.
  • Molds expansion joints.
  • Monitor how the wind, heat or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process
  • Spread, level, smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as walls, floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools, such, hand or power trowel or power screed and float to specified textures; removes rough or defective spots; patches holes.
  • Assists other employees with technical knowledge as requested.
