About The Position

We’re looking for Concierge professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska . What You’ll Do As Concierge you will be responsible for providing guests with information regarding resort activities, tours and restaurants. Answer inquiries, offer suggestions, and provide descriptive literature pertaining to trips, excursions, sports events, concerts, and plays. Discuss routes, time schedules, rates, and types of accommodations with guests to determine preferences and make reservations. Verify arrival and departure times, provide directions or trace routes on maps, and arrange baggage handling, shipping services, and other services requested by guests. Arrange tour packages and transportation with an approved list of vendors. Handle guest requests for babysitting, flower arrangements, and other such amenities. Respond to phone calls, retrieve guest mail, messages, faxes and packages. Develop a strong knowledge of Resort activities, Girdwood Valley activities, and other potential points of interest to guests. Provide constant and consistent communications with Front Desk staff and other departments as needed. Maintain familiarity of Bell Desk operations, Front Desk, Night Audit, Recreation and Reservations including hotel computer systems. Crosstrain to learn and perform all the duties of a Front Desk Clerk when needed.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to follow-through and be detail oriented
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of employees and guests
  • High school diploma, general education degree, related field or international equivalent preferred
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are always celebrated
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to use a computer and calculator. Must be able to see and hear for emergency situations in order to direct guests to safety. Must be able to hear telephone conversations and respond by speaking understandably. Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with local attractions and vendors is a plus.
  • Proven hospitality experience is preferred.
